Welcome from the Head of Department 

Welcome to the Department of Vector Biology and Disease Control at the School of Public Health, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. As one of the oldest and most distinguished academic departments in Iran, we are recognized both nationally and internationally for excellence in research and education. 

Our research is structured around the following key areas: 

- Leishmaniasis 

- Malaria 

- Dengue, CCHF & Other Arboviruses 

- Toxicology and Nano-Pesticides 

- Bio-pesticides 

- Vector Control 

- Medically Important Arthropods & Rodents 

- Molecular Entomology

- Forensic Entomology

- Maggot therapy 

The Department is home to more than 11 full-time faculty members who are dedicated researchers and educators. Our staff actively contribute to the global scientific community through frequent publications in leading international journals, presentations at conferences worldwide, and high-impact research outputs. Faculty members regularly engage in international research collaborations, and hold editorial and leadership roles in prominent journals and scholarly organizations. 

Our curriculum is designed for students who aspire to become leading scholars and senior professionals in both the public and private sectors. Graduates of our programs play vital roles in advancing public health. 

We offer both MSc and PhD programs, supported by a wide array of research opportunities. Typically, a Master’s project is completed within two years, while a PhD project averages four years. We are proud to welcome both national and international students to our academic community.
