The Arba’een ceremony in the Context of Climate Change: challenges and solutions for healthcare systems
On the occasion of the Arba'een foot-pilgrimage, a Muslim mass gathering, Dr Abbas Ostadtaghizadeh, the head of the Department of the Health in Emergencies and Disasters delivered speech entitled ‘The Arba’een ceremony in the Context of Climate Change: challenges and solutions for healthcare systems.’ In this scientific event which took place on Friday, 19 August 2024, at theInternational Branch of Tehran University of Medical Sciences; Subtain University of Medical Sciences, it has been illustrated the effects of climate change and increases in global temperatures on the world’s largest gathering, and then proposed solutions for the healthcare systems to encountered these health issues.
By analyzing the current situation, climate warming, and future predictions as well, Dr. Ostadtaghizadeh highlighted the effect of dust storms and heat waves on public health, especially in mass gatherings such as Arba’een. Ultimately, it was emphasized the importance of taking appropriate measures to manage public health and provided solutions to improve healthcare systems.
