Since establishment of School of Public Health in 1966, Department of Pathobiology has started its educational and research activities in Microbiology, Immunology and Virology as a prominent axial department. After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Master’s and PhD courses in each area were established. In addition to its seven educational fields, department provided educational services for Parasitology, Medical Mycology, Biochemistry, Nutrition and MPH courses for Immunology and Microbiology. However, an independent department has recently been established for Virology. Currently, Department of Pathobiology provides five educational majors in Microbiology and Immunology as follows:

  • PhD by course in Medical Bacteriology
  • PhD by course in Medical Immunology
  • MSc by course in Medical Microbiology
  • MSc by course in Medical Immunology
  • MSc by course in Food Microbiology

It is noteworthy that students in these majors are admitted through national exams held by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
