Introducing the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences School of Public Health has a rich history dating back to 1966, when the School of Public Health and the Health Research Institute were founded. In 1971, the Epidemiology section separated from the Ecology group and merged with the Department of Statistics, forming the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics under the leadership of Dr. Nahapetian. Today, the department is the oldest and largest School of Public Health in the Middle East, with a reputation for excellence and a track record of success over the past 50 years. Graduates of the department have gone on to achieve great success in various health-related fields, both nationally and internationally, thanks in part to the guidance of its distinguished professors. The department's strength lies in offering both "Epidemiology" and "Biostatistics" programs, which reinforce each other and create synergy. Currently, the department has over 60 doctoral and nearly 80 master's students, making it a leading institution in public health and medicine.
